eSIM
« Back to Glossary Index
An eSIM is a SIM card that has been soldered directly to the circuit board of a device. This removes the need for a physical SIM to be inserted in to the device to provide cellular data connectivity. The eSIM is intended to securely store the international mobile subscriber identity (IMSI) number and its related key, which are used to identify and authenticate subscribers on mobile telephony devices (such as mobile phones and computers).
